I know its been a long long long time since we’ve been blogging. our mama has been going though hard times trying to find new work, going on lotsa interviews but none have panned out. now it’s the end of the year and the lease on our townhouse ends SOON. no job. no townhouse. uck
my parents have graciously invited me to move home and live with them. I can deal with a bruised ego, and I am grateful for their generosity.

I’ve also experienced a sporadic loss of vision in both eyes along with seeing ’spots’ that come and go thought the day. yesterday, I went to an eye doctor. He determined that both of my optic nerves are swollen, and immediately scheduled me for an MRI. Tomorrow, the Dr will explain what they found.

I hope it isnt anything serious. but I’m really scared that it could be.

have you had a similar experience?

I had a nice, quiet, relaxing weekend while house sitting / Kitty sitting for my vacationing parents. Kitty was my first cat. An old and dear friend gave him to me when I moved into the first of many tiny apartments in Philly more than a decade ago.

Kitty has the heart of an explorer and the courage of a warrior – he was not scared on moving day — he never tried to hide in a closet or somewhere small; instead, he would puff-up and sternly march along the perimeter from room to room with his tail held up like a flag. He is, and will forever be, a superb Alpha Male. However, he didn’t like living in the city (at least not in a 800 sq foot flat many stories above the ground) Kitty was indoor/outdoor until he came to me at age 3. Being declawed didn’t interfere with his snake wrangling and mousing success.

A few years ago, I temporarily moved home and put all of my stuff into storage in my parent’s attic, and in a very short time, my parents fell hopelessly in love with Kitty. And he loved them, and their spacious house, right back. Kitty purrs like a loud diesel engine and loves belly rubs and chin scratches – he will gladly return the favor by grooming your hair (usually while you sleep).

Not long after settling in, an Evil kitty wandered close to the house -! A CHALLENGE! Kitty puffed his long furs, screamed bloody murder, hissing, spitting, and beat on the glass mightily in effort to GET THE EVIL TRESPASSER. We had never, ever seen such a ferocious display of aggression‼ It was like watching a feline version of the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Long after the Evil Intruder was gone, Kitty vigilantly stood watch, and just to be sure the message was understood – other cats are Not Welcome – he pee’d on two sofas and an arm chair! It was far from funny at the time, but we get a good laugh out of it now…

Icon was the complete opposite – although he did not care for other cats, he could tolerate them as long as he was given lots of space. I’ll tell you a story about a funny thing Icon did the weekend we moved into this house, but it will have to wait.

I’m very, very grateful for all of the kind words and good advice given to me. It’s nice to have support in tough times.

I’ve been on one sort of anti-depression drug or another for over 10 years, and three years ago a new physician prescribed Lexapro. I won’t go as far as saying its a “wonder drug” but it certinaly worked better then any other anti-depression medicine ever has, for me. Unfortunately, there is no generic form. Now that I have to pay out-of-pocket for health insurance with the meager state unemployment money as my only income, I can’t afford the $150 per month for Lexapro. I’m taking 2 generic anti-depressants (thanks to Walmart’s $4 prescriptions) but I haven’t found the right combination yet. As if being unemployed wasn’t depressing enough…

But, I am SO looking forward to the shuttle landing tomorrow I hope the weather clears in FL

I think that I could be depressed, maybe.
I feel frozen in carbonite like Han Solo. I’m constantly exhausted and emotionally drained. I’ve been eating crappy food and the only use my elliptical machine gets these days is for drying sheets. The term “comfort food” is misleading and devious but I just don’t feel like cooking, so breakfast cereal and Chinese take-out is easiest.

When I was laid-off in October, I definitely had an optimistic outlook. I’ve never had any trouble finding a job before. I had several job interviews every week until the holidays, and then the phone calls and emails slowly trickled down. Nevertheless, I was not to be discouraged, (everyone agreed that’s just the natural post-holiday slump) until Icon died, December 26. That was my tipping point.
I’m unemployed, single, childless, career less (yes, it counts twice) and 32yrs old! Although, I suppose it is very fortunate that I don’t have any dependents whose lives would be altered by these turn of events (or my pathetic inability to improve it). It’s just me.
I guess I am in shock that this isn’t getting any better.. How did I get here?
I desperately need some inspiration and motivation, but all I want to do is sleep all day. I feel like a hermit(!) I am at home all day, every day.
I miss Icon terribly. Blogging doesn’t hold the same interest without him even though I have lots of free time now. I really should get out more often…. Maybe I’ll walk through Independence Hall if the weather is nice. I love that section of philly.

I think kitten season is gearing up – and maybe I could use the cute cuddly furry tiny kitten lovies as much (or more) then they could use a foster home.

My intention was not to whine and complain about my life on my cat’s blog, but I started typing and it felt good… thanks for listening
