SICK at the Vet today…
hello internets. I’m sick and went to see Dr P today. I’ve been feelin yucky for at least a week, but I did good hiding it from my mama for a while. mostly by sleepin and pretendin that I was wasnt hungry and such…
She caught on when I missed breakfast – I didn’t even look over when I heard the can top pop. I was too tired to care.
I didnt care when mama nudged the ticklish spot at the base of my tail.. I usually do the “elevator butt” move if I’m in a good mood, or I growl if I dont want to be bothered.. but since yesterday I havent felt like reacting AT ALL. When mama rubbed my hind paw today I just let her — I didnt even pull away. I felt so sick. I also pee’d in my bed, which wouldnt be so horrible except that I was laying IN IT. I’m having a peeing problem (incontinence). Im also having trouble walking. my tail is limp, too.
We went to see Dr. P and she is my favorite doctor because she talks to me softly and reassures me during the exam so I dont get too scarit. I told Dr. P that i’m lethargic, no appetite, uncoordinated movement, and pee’d my bed. (symptoms)
She said I look okay externally – cept a little dehydrated & my ears are dirty. I dont have a fever. she stole some of my blood for testing, and even though I didnt study for a test, my blood got a good grade.
she looked at my insides with a special x-ray machine which showed her that my stomach is FULL and the innertubes that food travels through from stomach to my litter box are also FULL. (I was sneaking my meals in private)
the x-ray also showed something abnormal. I have little tinsey round balls in between each disc in my spine that should not be there. mama forgot to write down the name of this condition (BAD mama!) but the balls in between the disks limit movement and Dr P thinks it’s causing me pain. I think she is right!
Dr P suspects that my back pain is stopping me from “squeezing one out” in the litter box. And pain in my spine could account for my hunching walk and peeing everywhere except the litter box. She gave me some medicine for pain and a tube of lube for my tummy.
Hopefully, I might be feeling better tomorrow.

Oh Icon, I am very sorry you have not been feeling well! I hope you can go poop soon, because it must not feel good to have all your innertubes filled up. But I understand why you do not want to go poopie if your back is hurting you. I am sending my best purrs for you to feel better soon.

Oh no! That is no way to spend the holiday. I hope you feel better. You know acupuncture is great for pain (and yes there are some vets who are trained to do it on cats!)
